Brown Watson Publications 1946-1968
Founded in 1944 as Brown Watson Ltd. by Bernard and Sadie Babani.From 1945 to 1949 published a number of 32 page Antholgies of magazine size and some novelettes of 64 pages.Their first full length novel appeared in July 1948, after 1949 all their publications were of 96 page plus.In the early 1950's a number of publications were printed as The Instructive Arts imprint.From 1952 to 1957 al books published as Brown Watson these being digest size and known as Brown Watson Non Series.1956 was the start of many varied imprints the first being Digit Books 1956 to 1967 with the first 160ish without any numbering which started with number 139 through to 982 some of the later numbers did not carry the Digit logo but were either published as Brown Watson books or Sabre Books imprint.
1958 to 1959 sees the introduction of Long Loop Western about 42 titles some carry a number preceded with the letter L and the remainder no number.
The 1960's about eight imprints were published which included: War Pocket Library, Outer Space Picture Library, Romance Pocket Library, Romance in Pictures, Conflict World War II in Pictures, Popular Reading, Western Pocket Library, Special Mystery, Film Frolics, Film Fan's Scrapbook, Scream 1 and 2 a pop magazine and some childrens books early 1950's to 1960's.
